ELFBAR is a well-known vape brand that’s famed for its convenient and affordable disposable devices as well as the quality of juice they contain.
However, even with such a reputable brand, things can still go wrong – and to help you sort out a commonly encountered problem, in this post, we answer the question, why won’t my ELFBAR disposable vape charge?
What is ELFBAR?
If you’re new to the world of vaping, you might not have heard of ELFBAR, so let’s start by introducing this extremely famous vape brand.
ELFBAR was one of the pioneers of disposable vapes. The company made its name with single-charge disposable vapes that offered only around 500 puffs before they needed to be replaced – but nowadays, ELFBAR also makes rechargeable models offering up to 5,000 puffs and more.
At the same time, ELFBAR has always been known for its extensive range of high-quality, delicious juices that give vapers plenty of choice when it comes to what they vape.
However, nowadays, ELFBAR is far from the only name when it comes to disposable vapes, and other companies are now offering products that are just as good as ELFBAR products – if not better.
For example, SPIRITBAR produces an exceptional vape known as the Jack’s Flask 9000 Puffs that’s easily as good as anything from ELFBAR.
Inspired by a pirate’s rum flask and evoking a life of excitement and adventure on the high seas, this vape delivers up to 9,000 puffs of luxury vape juice, combining style, convenience and ease of use in the kind of device that experienced vapers and newbies alike will love using.
Reasons why your ELFBAR won’t charge
If you have an ELFBAR vape, there are many possible reasons why it won’t charge.
Some of these have to do with user error – but, despite ELFBAR’s reputation as a producer of reliable vapes, it can also be due to a malfunction or a faulty device.
As a result, if your vape doesn’t charge, you need to work out why this is – since this will help you understand if it’s going to be possible to rectify the problem.
So let’s look at some of the most common issues now.
1. It’s not a rechargeable model
When your vape stops working, the first thing you need to do is work out whether it’s a rechargeable model or a single-charge device.
ELFBAR vapes that only provide limited puffs are single-charge devices while those offering more are generally rechargeable.
This means when your vape runs out, if you don’t already know, you need to check if it’s designed to be rechargeable.
The best way to do this is to check if there’s an obvious charging point located on the bottom of the device for plugging in a USB-C charger. If you can’t find one, it’s safe to assume that your vape isn’t rechargeable, in which case you just need to get rid of it and buy a new one.
As a rule, ELFBAR devices offering 2,000 puffs or fewer are single-charge vapes while those offering more are rechargeable models.
That said, the EP8000 comes with enough battery power for 8,000 puffs without the need to recharge, so you still need to check the model you have to see if it can be recharged.
Tip: If your vape is a single-charge model, don’t leave it sitting in a drawer and forget about it. Otherwise, if you come back to it a few months later and try to vape it, there’s a good chance the battery will have died, in which case there’s nothing you can do to save it.
2. It’s out of juice
If you have a rechargeable vape but after recharging, you find it still doesn’t produce any vapor, it’s possible the device may just be empty.
With disposable vapes, when the juice runs out, that’s the end – it’s empty, so you need to discard it and buy a new one. There’s nothing left to vape, so charging it up again won’t help.
With rechargeable models, there’s usually an LED light that changes color to tell you the vape is empty.
For example, the Pi7000 incorporates a “traffic light” system – a green light tells you that you have 100-50% juice left, orange means 50-5% and red means 5% or less.
However, with single-charge devices, some don’t have a light system to tell you about the remaining juice and just stop working – so the best advice is to check the instructions that came with the vape when you bought it.
3. It’s defective or damaged
Another possibility is that, despite the generally high quality of ELFBAR vapes, you may have a defective or damaged device, meaning it fails to charge or operate correctly. Here are some of the common issues you might encounter.
If there is faulty wiring inside the device, there’s nothing you can do short of prizing the device open and trying to fix it – which is not advisable.
However, this is not such a common issue unless the device has taken a knock and been damaged, so you shouldn’t usually need to worry about it.
Sometimes devices may suffer a short circuit and stop working. However, if this is the case, it’s difficult to confirm and almost impossible to fix.
If you suspect this is the problem, you just need to write your vape off and buy a new one because it won’t charge correctly, whatever you do.
If a vape is left somewhere hot like in direct sunlight, this may cause it to malfunction internally, meaning it won’t charge correctly or function properly after charging.
You can try allowing it to cool down completely and then carefully try charging it again – but sometimes, the damage may be permanent and the vape won’t work after it has overheated like this.
You dropped it
If you drop your vape or it otherwise receives a heavy knock, this may cause it to stop working. This may mean it won’t charge correctly, or it might not function correctly after charging.
If you know you dropped your vape, this is the most likely cause, in which case, you should just plan on buying a new one.
You got it wet
Similarly, if your vape gets wet, this may cause it to stop charging or functioning correctly.
Again, if you know it got wet – for example, you dropped it in water or it was in your pocket when you got caught outside in the rain – you probably don’t need to look any further for the cause of the issue and should just discard it and purchase a new one.
4. It’s too cold
A slightly different problem you might encounter occurs when your vape is too cold – something you might be familiar with if you’ve ever tried to use a smartphone or digital camera in especially low temperatures.
Essentially, when it’s too cold, a battery won’t work, so it doesn’t matter if you charge it up fully because it’s still not going to let you vape.
Fortunately, all you need to do to rectify this problem is warm your device up and it will start working normally again. Just don’t place it on a radiator or anything like that as the excessive heat may cause it to explode.
5. There’s a problem with your power source
Another common problem could be that there’s an issue with your charging equipment rather than with the vape itself.
Check your power cable to make sure it isn’t broken or coming loose. You can always try switching to a different cable to test this.
Similarly, you might have an issue with your charging adapter. To check it, switch it to another one to see if that rectifies the problem.
6. It’s a fake
Finally, the problem might be because you’ve bought a fake ELFBAR product, in which case it’s more likely to malfunction or not work correctly.
Here are some of the things that will tell you if you have a genuine product.
If the price you paid seemed too good to be true, it probably was. ELFBAR vapes are usually relatively inexpensive anyway, but if someone tries to sell you one for significantly less than you usually pay, there’s probably something not quite right somewhere.
The juice tastes bad
If you’re vaping an ELFBAR device and the juice tastes off, there’s a good chance it’s a fake.
ELFBAR is known for its delicious juices, so if yours tastes bad, it’s probably not real ELFBAR juice.
Security features for validation
Genuine ELFBAR products include several security features designed to combat counterfeit production – for example, they include things like anti-stripping and anti-counterfeiting patterns, fluorescent ink, a holographic laser security thread and micro text.
The box it came in should also have a QR code that you can scan to check the product’s authenticity – and there’s also an 18-digit security code alongside the QR code that you can enter on the ELFBAR website to check what you’ve bought is real.
Several possible reasons why your vape won’t charge
As we’ve seen, there are several possible reasons why your ELFBAR vape won’t charge, including the possibility that it’s a defective unit, that it’s damaged or that it’s a fake – and it could also simply be because you don’t have a rechargeable model.
The best advice is to check the various issues we’ve mentioned in this post and also to consult the user guide that came with it. And if all else fails, you’ll just have to resign yourself to buying a new one – after all, most of these vapes aren’t particularly expensive anyway.
