Elf Bar, a company based in Shenzhen, China, is one of the biggest names in the world of disposable vapes.

The company’s vapes are among the most popular disposables in the US – despite the fact that they’re not technically authorized for sale there – and, along with sister brand Lost Mary, they account for around half of the disposable vape sales in the whole of the UK.

Although Elf Bar originally focused on producing cheap disposable vapes that were designed for short-term use on a single charge, the company now also produces rechargeable disposables and has even branched out into making refillable pods.

Why is Elf Bar so popular?

Elf Bar took advantage of the demand for simple, inexpensive vapes that were user-friendly and didn’t require any investment in expensive reusable vaping kits.

They are available to buy in places like bars where casual users can purchase one on a whim for little money whenever they feel like a quick vape – and there’s no commitment to operating and maintaining a more complicated vaping kit.

Elf Bar vapes are designed to look attractive, with an appealing and sometimes quirky aesthetic.

They are also available in a range of exciting flavors such as Watermelon Ice or Blackcurrant Juice, and the quality and range of the vape juice their products contain – as well as their flavor consistency – have become a large part of what the brand is known for.

This is not without controversy, however, Many people argue that the bright colors, rounded and attractive shapes and funky flavors are designed to appeal to teenagers and even children.

As a result, it is claimed that these vapes have contributed a great deal to the underage vaping epidemic that many countries are currently experiencing.

Is Elf Bar the only company that makes vapes like this?

Although Elf Bar is one of the pioneers in the disposable vape niche and is the market leader in terms of sales, it is not the only company that produces such vapes, and many other companies are making up ground fast.

For example, one newcomer to the party is Spiritbar, a company that produces top-end rechargeable vapes that are designed to last much longer than most Elf Bar products.

For example, Spiritbar’s Jack’s Flask 9000 Puffs, a pirate-inspired vape that evokes a life of adventure on the high seas, is a high-quality alternative that’s well worth checking out.

These vapes are disposable, so they offer you all the advantages of not having to worry about the complicated or expensive equipment associated with refillable vapes.

However, since each device contains enough juice for up to 9,000 puffs, you won’t need to worry about replacing it so often, offering the perfect combination of convenience, ease of use and stylish sophistication.

So although Elf Bar might have been the first, nowadays, this is by no means the only brand to consider if you want to enjoy all the advantages of using a disposable vape.

Can all Elf Bar products be recharged?

When it comes to recharging Elf Bar vapes – and most other brands of disposables for that matter – it’s important to understand that there are two main types of disposable: those that are designed to be recharged and those that aren’t.

Early disposables only contained enough juice for around 400-600 puffs. Since they were only intended to be used for a short time before being discarded, Elf Bar didn’t bother wasting money fitting them with expensive rechargeable batteries.

Rather, they came filled with only around 2ml of juice and a battery that held just about enough charge for you to finish the 2ml of juice the vape contained.

However, with vapes that contain enough juice for over 1,000 puffs – and especially those containing 9,000 or 10,000 puffs’ worth of juice – it’s clear that one charge won’t be enough.

As a result, these vapes are rechargeable – in other words, you can recharge the battery, but once the juice is finished, you still discard them, just like any other disposable vape.

And the important – and quite obvious – point to note is that rechargeable disposable vapes can be recharged while non-rechargeable ones can’t. Or at least they’re not supposed to be, but that’s something we’ll come back to in a moment.

The first thing to do if you want to charge your Elf Bar vape is to establish whether you have a rechargeable model or one that isn’t supposed to be recharged.

The easy way to do this is to check the vape for a recharging port, which should be easy to find. If it has one, you can charge it, but if it doesn’t you probably can’t.

Also, if your vape is a 600-puff device, you probably can’t charge it with a regular charger, but any models above this can usually be recharged very easily.

Once you are sure you have a rechargeable vape and have located the recharging port, all you now need to do is plug it into a power source using a regular USB-C cable.

Most people will have one of these at home, but if not, you can easily buy one in any electronics store, most convenience stores or online. You can also buy compatible cables on the Elf Bar website.

Pro Tips: If you have a phone like iPhone 15, you can also use it to charge the elfbar. Because iPhone15 also has a USB-C charging port.

Elf Bar vapes usually take anything between 30 and 90 minutes to charge, and after that, they will be ready to go again.

Most models have an LED that illuminates while the device is charging but then goes off once it’s finished.

How to charge a non-rechargeable Elf Bar – and why you don’t want to try

If you have an Elf Bar vape that isn’t designed to be recharged, is it still possible to recharge it?

The answer is that it probably is if you are determined to do so, but first let’s talk about why it’s not a smart idea to try.

Disposable vapes containing small amounts of vape juice offering only around 600 puffs aren’t designed to be recharged, and they don’t have a recharging port – so if you want to charge one, you’ll have to break it open to get to the battery.

Then, once you manage to expose the battery, you’ll need to connect open wires to the positive and negative terminals, and after you do this, there’s no inbuilt circuitry to protect you against overheating, fires or even explosions.

This means that doing so can be a risky business, but more than this, there’s not really any point in trying anyway.

If the battery has died, it means there’s probably very little juice left inside anyway, so if you manage to recharge it, you’ll probably only get a few more stale or burnt-tasting puffs from the dregs of the juice.

It’s possible that if you bought the vape but then forgot about it for a long time, the battery might have run down without you using it, in which case there might be a bit of juice left inside.

However, these devices are so cheap that it’s hardly worth the trouble, so our recommendation is just to throw them out and buy a new one.

On the other hand, if you’re still determined to give it a go, here’s a video that will show you how to do it.

Just as easy as charging a smartphone

If you have an Elf Bar vape that’s run out of battery, the first thing you need to do is work out whether it’s the kind of device that is designed to be recharged or if it’s one you’re supposed to discard and replace as soon as the battery dies or the juice runs out.

If it’s a rechargeable model, all you need to do is connect it to a power source, and in this sense, it’s no more difficult to charge than plugging in a smartphone.

However, if it’s one of the devices that isn’t designed to be recharged, we recommend just getting rid of it and buying a new one since recharging one of these is hardly worth the hassle and they’re extremely inexpensive to buy anyway.
